“I attempted to have my son photographed 3 times at the local shopping centre studio unsuccessfully. My lively and very excitable little bundle of joy refused to sit still or co-operate for more than 2 minutes. I knew I had to act quickly, as I had no professional photographs at all, and by this stage he was 15 months old and the baby look and perfect curls would not last much longer. I compiled a list of photographers from referrals and the Net, and went to work. Brett Jacques Photography was first on my list, and over the next month something kept drawing me back to his website and stunning work. The natural, candid and informal shots grabbed my attention. I was impressed by the way Brett’s unique and artistic style managed to capture the essence and personality of each child he photographed in a single moment. No flowerpots, bales of hay, or funny props. This suited me fine! The biggest plus was that the shoot took place in the comfort and convenience of my own home. I made an appointment with Simone, who was thoughtful enough to consider my child’s sleeping patterns. I made the appointment and prayed that we would be free of illness, teething blues, and scratches and bruises. On the day, I was still nervous that my son would not co-operate, however, Brett arrived and the nerves just disappeared. Over the next hour or so, it was filled with lots of fun, laughter, and play. A couple of weeks later when my husband and I viewed the final result, I found myself both overwhelmed and speechless. The photos were brilliant and I felt so lucky and relieved to have captured my son at such a special and beautiful age. Brett, your good nature, enthusiasm and passion for your work is to be admired. We are lucky to have such creative and gifted individuals amongst us who have the ability to portray the personality and the innocence of a child which is so unique and special to each parent.
