Portraiture Your Brett Jacques Portrait Experience

When Brett photographs your child or family, he will truly capture the spirit of their childhood.  As a parent himself, Brett can empathise with the difficulty many parents have in capturing that true uniqueness of their child.  We are happy to discuss your preferences for the shoot in person, or by phone, as well as offer suggestions for outdoor locations.  Often the shoot takes place where your child feels most comfortable.  Imagine being able to capture the experience of your child running free in your park, the flush of rosiness in their cheeks as they toss autumn leaves into the chilly wintry sky, or frolicking in the surf on a warm summer’s day, jeans rolled up and reveling in the simple, basic pleasures of life.  Or for the very little ones, capturing their tiny and exquisite little hands and feet, eyelashes gently resting against their perfect skin as they sleep ….. pure serenity.

What makes this so special & unique?

With Brett being the soul photographer you have this contact and unique approach to personal service that shines through into your family and images. This keeps the moment relaxed and comfortable for all.

When will I see my Portraits?

This is one of our favourite parts of the entire experience.  One week after your Session, we meet with you to view the images.  We will project the images & share and create custom artwork for your home that will be enjoyed by your Family and future generations for years to come.  Remember ….. the art created today will be priceless tomorrow …. yesterday can never be replaced.

What to wear?

Many clients ask what is best to wear for the shoot.  As this is not your traditional photography session, feel free to bring multiple outfits to try out fun and unique looks.  Whilst colour represents a lively, fun time in your child’s life, classic, simple clothing in a solid colour also works well.  If the session is a family, try to keep a similar theme to your outfit choices such as white shirts and denim.  Newborns are photographed in as little as possible.  A plain Bonds singlet can be just as photographically pleasing as more traditional clothing, and nothing is more perfect than the skin of a newborn.

How long does a Session take?

Allow between one to two hours for your Session.  Whilst some Sessions can be completed in as little as 30 minutes, this is your custom portrait experience, and we strive to make it as comfortable as possible.  Sessions with small children or infants are best scheduled on a day when you will not feel rushed.  When scheduling your session, try to plan around your child’s “happiest” times of the day.  Mealtime and naptime are best avoided.

When should I book my Session?

Due to the nature of custom photography, and as Brett is the sole photographer, sessions do book about 3 weeks to 3 months in advance, October to March being peak season.  If you are pregnant and expecting, we recommend you call to schedule in the last couple of months of pregnancy, as we do recommend newborn sessions within the first week of birth.
